How Modes work

Connect uses Modes to determine different workflows and plugin behaviour, depending on what kind of sounds you are working with. Here is a quick overview of how they work - click on a title below to view more in depth info about each Mode.

Synth Mode

Synth mode has been designed for creating any kind of melodic sound that plays chromatically across your keys. Of course, you’re welcome to use it in other ways, too.

Here are the unique attributes of Synth Mode:

• When a sample is loaded, you can play it back at different pitches using notes on your MIDI keyboard, determined by the Root Note of the sample
• You can load samples on up to three layers, which are selected using the coloured pads at the top. When you play a note, all three layers play back at the same time.
• On the ‘Sample’ tab, you can change the loop start/end points, set the samples root note (this is determined automatically if the sample has key metadata) and change the root note octave.
• Effects and Modulation can be applied individually to each layer, or you can select the ‘Apply To All’ icon on an effects module to apply those settings to all layers.

Drum Mode

Synth mode has been designed for creating drum kits with up to 16 individual channels. It’s also great for adding other sounds, like vocal chops, sound effects and whatever takes your fancy.
